New database trials – Alexander Street Press

We have lots of interesting trials from Alexander Street Press. They are available until 31st May 2007.

The same username and password is required for all of the following databases.

Classical Scores Library – will contain 400,000 pages of classical scores from both in-copyright and public domain editions. The major composers output is represented, as well as many lesser known composers and works.

Content in this first release includes 800 scores (approx. 25,000 pages) of in-copyright material from Boosey and Hawkes and selected material from the University Music Editions microfilm series. 49 composers’ works are included in this release, including notable 20th-century composers such as Aaron Copland, Benjamin Britten, Igor Stravinsky, and Ned Rorem. This first release contains 16 full operas, 7 oratorios, over 50 string quartets, 27 symphonies, 60 concerti, and more.

Harper’s Weekly 1857-1912 – America’s leading 19th century illustrated newspaper, with full text indexing and scanned page images.

Lincoln and the Civil War – search 49 original newspapers and magazines of the era.

The Digital Collection of Protestant Texts – a treasury of theological writings, biblical commentaries, confessional documents, sermons, letters, polemical treatises, and other works by hundreds of Protestant authors from the Reformation and post-Reformation eras.

The Digital Library of Catholic Reformation – offers a constantly growing treasury of theological writings, biblical commentaries, confessional documents, and polemical treatises written by more than 300 Catholic authors.

The Digital Karl Barth Library – The current release features the first 36 volumes of Barth’s Gesamtausgabe, originally published under the TVZ imprint. Among the works included in the Gesamtausgabe are hundreds of letters, sermons, lectures, conversations, and academic writings. New content, including Barth’s monumental Kirchliche Dogmatik, will be added on a quarterly basis.

Social Theory – an extensive selection of documents that explore the complexities and interpret the nature of social behavior and organization. The current release features 48,300 pages of content by such major theorists as Jean Baudrillard, Ulrich Beck, Howard Becker, Nancy Chodorow, Norbert Elias, Erving Goffman, Robert Merton, and Talcott Parsons.
