Advance Notice of Noise at Huxley

From Wednesday 5th September – Friday, 7th September, major excavation work will begin at the back of Huxley library. If you are studying downstairs in the laptop area (the area which flooded in June) you may be disturbed by the sound of heavy machinery. If you need a quiet study area the Quarto room is available.The excavation is necessary to investigate pipes and drains and to hopefully prevent Huxley library from flooding in the future.

We apologise for any inconvenience.


Advance Notice: RSC Website Downtime

The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) website (http://www.rsc.org) will be unavailable from 08:00 GMT on Saturday 1 September until 16:00 GMT on Sunday 2 September 2007 for an essential upgrade. This will mean that there will be no access to RSC’s online products and services via its website during this period.

The RSC apologises for any inconvenience that this downtime may cause.


AIC Painting Renovations

From tommorrow, Tuesday 28th August the AIC will undergo painting renovations.The work will be done after 6pm each evening to minimise inconvenience to AIC patrons.


Ourimbah Library closing at 5 pm – 20 August, 2007

Due to the risk of flooding, the Ourimbah Library will be closing at 5:00pm today (20th August, 2007).


Huxley Library Foyer renovations

17 August, 2007

As the Auchmuty Foyer refurbishments near completion, work is beginning on the Huxley Library Foyer.

Starting on 20 August 2007, renovations  will include:

  • Installation of electronic entrance/exit doors
  • A new foyer area where people can meet
  • Some changes to the service areas

The work will be done in stages to minimise disruption.


Requesting in BONUS currently unavailable

We are experiencing problems when trying to request items in BONUS.  The incorrect screen is appearing, so making it impossible to complete the request.  A call has been logged with the software provider, and we hope to have the problem rectified as soon as possible.  We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.


New trial journal – ACS Nano

The American Chemical Society has just released the first issue of ACS Nano, and made it available at no charge until the end of 2007.

ACS Nano is a new international forum for the communication of comprehensive articles on nanoscience and nanotechnology research at the interfaces of chemistry, biology, materials science, physics, and engineering. Moreover, the journal helps facilitate communication among scientists from all these research communities in developing new research opportunities, advancing the field through new discoveries, and reaching out to scientists at all levels.

In addition to comprehensive, original research articles, ACS Nano offers reviews, perspectives on cutting-edge research, conversations with nanoscience and nanotechnology thought leaders, and discussions of topics that are important for the entire community.
