Blackwell Synergy & Wiley downtime 28th-30th June

Blackwell Synergy will no longer be available as from 11:00am Saturday 28th June 2008.  All Blackwell content is moving to the Wiley Interscience site, and will be available there from 11:00am Monday 30th June.

Wiley Interscience will also be unavailable from 7:00am Sunday 29th June 2008 until 11:00am Monday 30th June.

After 11:00 on 30th June, when Wiley comes back online, all Blackwell and Wiley content will be available.  Links to Blackwell will be redirected to the Wiley site.

New database – Natural Standard

Natural Standard is an international research collaboration that aggregates and synthesizes data on complementary and alternative therapies.  The information that is created is evidence-based, consensus-based, and peer-reviewed, tapping into the collective expertise of a multidisciplinary Editorial Board.

New database – Theatre in Video

Theatre in Video is a new database now available from the Library.  It contains more than 100 definitive performances of the world’s leading plays, together with more than 60 film documentaries, online in streaming video, and when complete will contain more than 350 full length productions.

Sunday Closing Dates – mid-year recess

Please note the University Libraries (Auchmuty, Huxley, Ourimbah and City Precinct) will be closed on the following Sundays:

AIC, CHIC & OIC Hours during mid-year recess

The AIC, CHIC and OIC will move to semester break hours at the end of exams until the end of semester break. From Friday 27th June until Sunday 20th July 2008:

AIC & CHIC opening hours:
Monday – Sunday: 8am – 12 midnight

OIC opening hours during:
Monday -Friday: 8am – 12 midnight
Saturday/Sunday: 9am – 5pm

24hr services recommence from Monday 21st July.

*Please note the AIC will be closed Saturday 12th July for Network maintenance.

New trial – Social Science Research Network

Trial available until 17th August 2008.

Social Science Research Network (SSRN) is devoted to the rapid worldwide dissemination of social science research and is composed of a number of specialized research networks in each of the social sciences.

The SSRN eLibrary consists of two parts: an Abstract Database containing abstracts on over 188,200 scholarly working papers and forthcoming papers and an Electronic Paper Collection currently containing over 151,200 downloadable full text documents in Adobe Acrobat pdf format. The eLibrary also includes the research papers of a number of Fee Based Partner Publications.

Bytes Cafe extension

Renovations to the Bytes Cafe in the Auchmuty Information Common will start on Monday 23rd June 2008, and are expected to be completed by the beginning of second semester.

The seating area will be extended – more seats, more laptop data ports, less congestion.

Bytes will continue to operate during the renovations.
