Encore: a new way to search NEWCAT!

29 July, 2009

encore is a new user friendly way of searching NEWCAT.

The results of your search are displayed with almost all the information you need right there on the one screen. You can see where the item is located, whether it is available, and if it’s not, place a hold, all from the results display.

Quickly and easily narrow your search by clicking on any of the options on the left hand side of the screen: Format, Location, Collection, Date, and Language.

Or use the Tag cloud on the right hand side to focus on a particular aspect.  The Tag cloud is created from the subject headings of the titles in your search results.

The three latest items added to our collection that match your search term(s), are displayed in the Recently Added section.

Encore does not yet have all the functions you can find in NEWCAT, but it is being continually developed.  If you want to search for Short Loans items by course or lecturer, or make a booking (e.g., Short Loans or a room) you will need to use ‘classic’ NEWCAT.

Try Encore today!

Please let us know what you think either by leaving a comment here, or by filling out the questionnaire.
