Auchmuty Library mould cleanup finishing

The mould cleanup is almost complete with all public areas and collections fully cleaned. The Library appreciates your patience and tolerance over the last 2 months.

The Auchmuty Library opening hours will revert to normal from Monday 24th May:

• Monday – Thursday: 8am-10pm
• Friday: 8am to 7pm

However, we are continuing the extended weekend opening hours until the end of the exam period.

Until Sunday 20th June, the Auchmuty Library weekend hours are:

• Saturday and Sunday: 9am-10pm

Biomed Reading Room & Med Reserve closure

The Biomed Reading Room and Med Reserve will close at 5pm Friday 7th May to enable mould treatment in that area.

The Biomed Reading Room will re-open at 9am on Saturday 8th May.  Med Reserve will remain closed, but items will be available from the Short Loans area.

The Biomed Reading Room will close again at 7pm on Sunday 9th May and will re-open at 8am on Monday 17th May.

During this time, items may be paged using the request feature in Newcat.

Again, we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Journal reading room closed from 28th April

The journal reading room (formerly Open Stack) is closed for cleaning from today 28th April until further notice.

Only library staff will be able to access the area to retrieve items. Requests for material will need to be made at the loans desk  manually. Requested material will be retrieved regularly.

AIC closed for cleaning from 6pm 30th April

The Auchmuty Information Common (AIC) will be closed for cleaning and mould treatments from  Friday 30th April  6:00pm  until Sunday 2nd May 9:00am.

Access to computers and study areas will be available on Levels 2 and 3 of the Library which will remain open 24 hours during the period.

Access for people with disabilities will be via the lift in the  Biomedical Building. Exiting the lift on level 1   takes  people to the  ramps that leads  to the level 3 entrance of the Auchmuty Library.  Temporary signage will  be posted to assist  users.

Please note: There will be no access to vending machines during the closure so bring your own food and drink.

Law Reading room closed for cleaning

The Law Reading room in the Auchmuty Library will be closed for cleaning and mould treatments from Monday evening 19th April. It will reopen at 8:00am on  Tuesday 27th April.

The material from Law reserve has been relocated to the central Short Loans collection on level 3.  Items in closed rooms can be requested via the paging service through the Library Catalogue.

Access to the Biomedical Reading Room is via the microfiche room.

Shuttle bus extended hours

To cover the extended library hours during the mould cleaning in the Auchmuty Library, the shuttle bus hours have been extended until 2:oo am Monday to Thursday.

• Monday-Friday: 4:30-6:30pm the shuttle bus will operate on a continuous loop of the campus and car parks.
• Monday-Thursday: 6:30pm-2:00am the shuttle bus is on call.
• Friday: 6:30-11:00pm the shuttle bus is on call.

After 6:30pm, students need to contact the driver to request a service on 0407951470 or ask a Library staff member  to phone on their behalf.

We encourage you to take full advantage of this service.

Auchmuty Short Loans and Law Reserve closed from 5:00pm Friday 16th April

Update on closures due to mould cleaning in the Auchmuty Library:

Auchmuty Short Loans:  closed  5:00pm Friday 16^th April – Monday 19^th April . The room will close completely for  24 hours, then a quick turnaround paging service will operate.

Auchmuty Foyer, Loans Desk, Main Entrance and Learning Lounge: closed 5:00pm Friday 16^th April – Monday 19^th April. Entrance to the library is via the Auchmuty Information Common (AIC).  The Loans Service will operate from the AIC desk.  Payment via Eftpos is  available at the Huxley Library.

Law Reserve: closed 5:00pm Friday 16^th April and reopens Saturday April 17 at 9:00am. Law Reserve items will be transferred to Short Loans late Monday 19^th April.

Law Collections: closed Monday 19^th April – Tuesday 27^th April. Law Reserve items can be accessed from Short Loans.

Items in closed rooms can be requested via a paging service

Extended library Opening Hours during the cleanup:-

Monday to Thursday: 8am to 1am *
Friday: 8am to 10pm
Saturday – Sunday: 9am to 10pm

* Anzac Day Weekend 24th , 25th & Monday 26th April: The Library will be open until 10pm.

The Auchmuty Information Common will remain open 24×7

Auchmuty Reading Room 1 closed from 7pm Friday 9 April

Reading Room 1 will be closed from 7pm Friday 9th April 2010 to allow for the mould removal process to continue.  It is expected to reopen on Monday 19th April.

Reading Room 2 will also be closed from 7pm and will reopen on Sunday afternoon.

The Flowers Room will reopen on Monday 12th April.

Items can be requested via the paging service from all closed areas.

Requesting books from closed reading rooms

We have a paging service for books in the closed reading rooms.  You can place a hold on a book and Library staff will collect it for you and put it on the hold shelf for you to collect.  Just to remind you what books are in each room:

Reading Room 2 – call numbers from 510 to 999 can be paged up to its reopening on Monday 5th April.

The Flowers Room – call numbers 000-319 can be paged from 7pm Thursday 1st April  to Monday 12th April.

Reading Room 1 – call numbers 320-509 can be paged from 5pm Sunday 11th April to its expected reopening on Monday 19th April.
