Off campus database access problems

We are currently experiencing widespread problems accessing our databases from off campus.  It’s not a problem for everyone off campus, and there are no problems on campus.  At this stage we haven’t identified the cause, but are working hard on it.

If you having problems, one thing that may help is clearing your browser cache and cookies.

In the meantime, if you are able to you could come on campus to use our resources.  Our apologies for the inconvenience this is causing.

Informit databases are currently unavailable due to an unexpected system error.  Informit databases include the full text databases - Australian Public Affairs Full Text, AGIS Plus Text, A+ Education, Meditext as well as many abstract databases.


Library catalogue and online services now available

The good news is NEWCAT and online resource access has been restored after the power outage.

The bad news is that unfortunately, the power won’t be restored to the Huxley Library until late tonight or tomorrow morning. It is expected that the Huxley Library will re-open at the normal time tomorrow, Friday. However, it would be a good idea to check before coming in. Phone the Huxley Library on 49216453 after 8:00am or the Auchmuty Library on 49215851.


Power failure causes interruption to Library services

Due to a power failure on the Hunter (eastern) side of the campus the following services will not be available this morning, Thursday 22nd November 2007:

  • Huxley Library
  • NEWCAT, the Library catalogue
  • Online journals, books, etc.

Energy Australia estimate it will take 4-6 hours to repair the fault. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, and hope to have all services operational again by early this afternoon. If you have an urgent need to find an item in the Library, or access an online resource please contact an Information Desk in one of the other Libraries, or email your enquiry to ASAPinfo.


Micromedex update 27 Oct 2007

Micromedex is being upgraded on Saturday 27th October.  While this is happening, you may see a message saying ‘Your Micromedex is expired’.  We have been told that this is only a warning, and will not affect functionality.
