Our newest guide provides help with access issues to Library eResources, solutions for common problems and how to find the right help.

For example did you know there are alternative ways to access our online resources. The University of Newcastle is a member of Australian Access Federation (AAF), this provides access to online resources which are subscribed to by your Institution and have been found while using regular web search engines (such as ‘Google’; ‘DuckDuckGo’; etc).

So there is no need to go back to NewCat+ or a Library database for access, when you are searching for information on a subject and you find a journal article, simply click on the resource to see if ‘Shibboleth’ access is available and then use your regular UON login. Log in screens vary from vendor to vendor – so look for mention of ‘Shibboleth’.

More information and examples of login screens are available on the Digital Technologies guide

There is more information on this handy guide for when you are experiencing difficulties accessing any of our online resources.

If you can not ask the library or chat is unavailable you can use the guide to help understand what the problem may be.

Often the problem is simple and sometimes it can be harder to identify so we need your help to accurately resolve the problem.  Use the online form or the self-help guide any time day or night.
