The MakerSpace and the library’s Staff Engagement Group are supporting the Animal Rescue Collective Craft Guild by collecting fabric and sewing supplies which will be used to make joey pouches, crochet nests and bat wraps for animals injured in the bushfires.

What do we need? Upcycled doona covers, bed sheets, fabric and thread. Please check the fabric requirements on this Animal Rescue Craft Guild post.

Collection tubs are located at:

  • Ourimbah – outside the MakerSpace (IRC-107).
  • Auchmuty – Service zone, level 3.
  • Huxley – library service point.
  • NewSpace – library service point.
  • Sydney – Student lunch area, level 1.

We will be running Animal Rescue Crafternoons where you can come along and contribute at our libraries in the coming weeks, stay tuned for details.

If you’re a knitter, crocheter or sewist and would like to share your skills at the crafternoons, please contact makerspace@newcastle.edu.au.
