ANZAC Day #standto

Reflect on their service in those quiet, peaceful moments before dawn.

On Saturday 25 April many Australians will stand in their driveways or at their front doors at dawn for a minute’s silence to remember the ANZACs and all fallen servicemen and women. You may like to join in with this quiet commemoration or watch this year’s Anzac Day commemorative service which will be televised nationally.

The Library is closed except for the 24 Hour spaces over the weekend and will reopen on Monday 27 April. Check our Library hours.

COVID-19 Update from the Library

Our University of Newcastle Library locations remain open. Please refer to our Library Updates and support page and Social Media channels for the latest information.

Due to a recent update from NSW health restricting personal spaces to be approx. 1.5m apart the Library will be assisting students with measures to make social distancing easier and therefore making it safer to use the Library study zones.

Measures include:

  • Rearranging some furniture to increase distances between study desks
  • Removing some lounges and chairs
  • The temporary closure of the Carers & Kids rooms

Ways you can help stop the spread:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water
  • Use hand sanitiser
  • Use wipes for cleaning keyboards and mouses
  • Cover your cough with your elbow or tissues and dispose of tissues appropriately
  • Keep your distance (1.5 metres apart)
  • Avoid shaking hands, hugging, or kissing other people

Feedback for Semester 2

We heard your feedback that the Group study spaces bookings system needed better location details.  So now we have now added more maps, room numbers and which level the rooms can be found. See all here Book a study space.

You asked if Library hours could be extended at Auchmuty on the weekends,

“Auchmuty should have extended night time hours on weekends so we don’t have to drive to the City!”

So the good news is that the main Library will be open during November until 8pm on Friday, Saturday and Sundays.

We have received some great feedback on the new Ourimbah Library MakerSpace.

“I would LOVE a quick tour and/or run through of the space! It’d be fantastic to have some of my Design In Society students along to see the space.”

“…i am in love these classes, they are so much fun and exciting.”

“On the facility itself, it is amazing for those breaks in between study.”

“Overall I love this new space and have already become a familiar face with Sally.”
